I hear of some students using professional outlining software instead of Microsoft Word to create class outlines. Does anyone have any experience with such software or any advice about how to create these outlines electronically? Thanks.
I use the outline function of Wordperfect. I find it works well and have never considered using something that would require more time to learn or require more money spent. The other plus to Word and Wordperfect is how easily files can be shared with other students.
Have you heard of "Inspiration" software? Visit inspiration.com ... don't be put off by the junior high school look of the pages. This software is very user friendly, and very good for outlining. Why? Because you can build a flowchart, and the software converts it into outline format with the click of a button -- OR, you can build an outline, and the software converts it into a flowchart with ... well, you get the picture. I have been using it as a teaching tool, and a writing tool for several years now. Academic support professionals at law schools across the country are recommending it to their students.
No, unfortunately I don't own stock in Inspiration.
Microsoft OneNote is amazing. If I attend Grad School of any type, I will be toting a laptop to every class just to use the software.
