Need assistance with suit response

I live in palm beach county florida and received a notice of foreclosure suit with 20 days to respond, this was December 28, 2009. My ex-wife who is also on the mortgage has been in Budapest until yesterday and has not been served, neither have we had time to talk or try to retain counsel which as I am currently unemployed, I can not afford.

How may I respond to the suit to ask for additional time to get proper advice and deal with my ex-wife to make the best decision, I would like to try to keep the property. I also understand Florida has a new mediation law. Does anyone have information on this and how I may enter the process.

I really need to know how to proceed, what I need to write and to who to get some extra time to fairly represent myself or get counsel.
