    Default Computer Science To Law

Hello everyone! I'm Peter, 27 years of age, and I wanted to enroll into law school.

I graduated a degree from Computer Science. Am I qualified to enroll in any law school? If not, what are the prerequisites before enrolling?

    Thank you in advance.

    Peter:

Hi there. Although I'm not a lawyer, or even attending law school yet, I have been reading up on what to do to be accepted to a law school. Universally, it seems that all lawyers must have a knack for being able to write great arguments. Not necessarily arguing them in court, but certainly writing them. To that end I would say you should ask yourself how are your writing abilities?

If they are acceptable, then I would think you are in a great position to become a patent lawyer for computer software clients. I have seen several posts for these types of skills while going through my own job searches. I don't see computer software getting phased out anytime soon, but definitely ask some lawyers that have been in the profession a while and get their opinions.

If you feel your skills are not up to par, then you may want to consider taking some English classes prior to going back to school. It would seem to me, that most people would not fall short on the writing area, but the vocabulary. I'm sure if I have a weak area as a technical person, that would be the one.

I am a 2L and have to say, don't listen to any LIES that only prelaw does good in lawschool. Statisticly those who take Theology of all things do the best. Any degree which teaches you to memorise elements will be all you need. (science, math, acting classes, etc)

Computer science is what I'd expect a lawstudent wtih all A's to tell me they did in undergrad.

Prelaw would be a B- average.

Remember too that if your BA is in a science field you can sit the "Patent Bar" even without a lawdegree. Many do that.
