Top 10 Law School with a 3.85 GPA and 162 LSAT Score?
hi all, i'm thinking of applying to law school next year and am wondering about my chances at the top 10. i have a 3.85 undergrad gpa and similar grad gpa, both from good schools (not ivy, but good nonetheless. actually started grad school at ivy but transferred to lesser school for full ride + stipend). i have been out of undergrad for 10 years and in that time have been doing intl/non-profit work - that's what the grad degree is in. My LSAT diagnostic score is 162 - hoping to hit 170 after lots of prep, and if i'm very lucky!
what are my chances at the top schools, do you think? yale's a dream. thanks.

With your GPA and a 166 LSAT you should be able to get into a top 10 law school, especially the bottom top 10: Michigan, Penn, Virginia, and Cornell.
I think with a 165+ LSAT, your present GPA, and a good personal statement, you should get into almost every top 20 public school, and some top 20 private schools, for sure.
I have a 3.8 166 from Cornell and I got waitlisted or defered to all top 10 schools, you should get top 20 with a 166 though as i got into vandy.
I'd say devote all of your energy into raising your LSAT score above 170. If you can push it up to the mid-170's you would be golden at most of the top ten schools. A 166 probably won't cut it. Good luck. I hope you make it.
